BRIDGEWATER, Va. (BC Athletics) – The Bridgewater College men’s soccer team worked a 0-0 tie against EMU Wednesday evening.

How it Happened
• The first half saw physicality from both sides. After three fouls in the opening minute, Ethan Locklear had the first shot attempt of the match. The shot was on target, but it found the gloves of Royals goalie Ryan Bousfield. In the 11th minute, the Eagles faced their first and only shot on goal of the match. A shot from EMU’s Cesar was saved by BC keeper Davis Bashore.
• Anthony Eugenio, Matthew Brand, and Trey Widrick each had shots on goal in the following minutes, but none were able to find nylon.
• The second half saw most of the action in the EMU defensive half. Riley Queen had the first shot on target in the 51st minute. In the following minutes, Eugenio, Queen, Medrano and Denno ripped off shots, but to no avail.
• Trey Widrick, Matthew Brand and Aerian Hammond had opportunities to give the Eagles the lead in the closing minutes, but they were unable to find the back of the net. Cole Dunbar had one last opportunity in the final seconds, but his shot was stopped by the Royals defense.

• In the first half, both teams had five shots apiece. The Royals had their lone shot on target in the first half. In the second half, the Royals had zero shots in the second half, while Bridgewater ripped 18. The Eagles ended with 23 shots in the match, ten of them being on target.
• 11 different players recorded a shot for BC (Eugenio, Hammond, Queen, Medrano, Locklear, Denno, Brand, Widrick, Dunbar, Lobo, Parker)
• The Royals defense faced a lot of pressure throughout the match, especially in the waning minutes of the second half. They saved ten shots compared to Bridgewater’s one.
• Play was physical throughout the match, especially in the first half. Three yellow cards were issued in the first half, with two going to Bridgewater players. The Eagles committed 12 fouls while EMU committed 15.
