BRIDGEWATER, Va. (BC Athletics) – The Bridgewater College field hockey team rolled past EMU on Wednesday night 6-0.

Records: Bridgewater 6-6 (3-1 ODAC), EMU 0-12 (0-4 ODAC)

How It Happened
• Bridgewater had a penalty corner in the second minute, and the home side jumped in front. Carynn Klingler had her try blocked, and Kylie Amberger corralled the rebound and buried it to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead early. The Eagles followed up shortly after another penalty corner saw Casey Grell redirect a feed in from Jade Buckles to make it 2-0 four minutes in. Bridgewater added one more to the tally just nine minutes in as Olivia Ohleger found the back of the net on an unassisted strike to make it 3-0. BC continued to push for more with a series of penalty corners, but the EMU defense regrouped, allowing just one shot on the chances down the stretch.
• Emily Dickinson opened the second stanza with three shots for the Eagles. Two were turned away and one was blocked in front to keep the same 3-0 edge. The Eagles kept firing as a series of penalty corners gave BC good looks at cashing in, but saves by Emma Huante and blocks up front kept the game at a 3-0 BC advantage at the intermission.
• The third frame opened with a shot by Abigail Mundhenk that was turned away by the Royals. BC had a pair of penalty corners that garnered shots, but each chance was once again swatted away. The Eagles kept pushing and finally broke through on another penalty corner late in the frame. Ohleger found a loose ball on the back post and tapped it in to give the Eagles a 4-0 lead. Ohleger, Lexi Francis and Klingler all fired shots off late in the frame, and all three were saved by the Royals.
• BC had a penalty corner early in the fourth, but did not bury a shot. EMU had its best chance in the middle of the final stanza as it earned a penalty corner, but did not get a shot off as Ashley Nau came out of her crease and spoiled the chance. BC added on to the lead late as Sarah Lsnik found a rebound in front of the crease and buried it to make it 5-0 with under five minutes to play. The Eagles added one more on a penalty stroke as Buckles found the back of the net on her shot to the top shelf to make it 6-0.

Game Notes
• Ohleger led BC with a pair of goals for her first multi-goal game of her career. Buckles registered her first goal of her collegiate career and registered an assist for the second-straight game.
• Huante made 12 saves for the Royals, while her offense did not register a shot.
• BC tallied 32 total shots and 18 shots on goal, both season highs.
