Dawna Renee Dove


It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dawna Renee Dove, age 50, on June 17, 2024.  Born on September 19, 1973, in Montgomery County, Maryland, Dawna lived a life full of compassion, dedication, and love for her family, friends, and animals.

Dawna’s legacy is one of service and kindness. For over 30 years, She dedicated herself to the Broadway Rescue Squad, where her commitment and bravery touched many lives. Her love for animals led her to establish her own nonprofit, “4 the Love of Paws,” through which she rescued countless animals and placed them in loving homes. Her tireless efforts and deep empathy made a significant difference in the lives of many furry friends and their new families.

Dawna was preceded in death by her mother Connie Lynn Dove in 2011. She is survived by her father, Ronald R. Dove of Quicksburg, VA; her brother Jason Dove and his wife Kim, also of Quicksburg, VA, along with their children Christopher, Kaitlyn, Brianna, and Jacob; her sister Heidi Rhodes and her husband Anthony, with their children Blake, Alexis, and Alana; and her sister Mandi Yoder of Stuart’s Draft, with her daughters Rylea and Reagan. Dawna’s family was the cornerstone of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

A viewing will be held June 19, 2024 at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway, Va from 6-8 PM. A memorial service to celebrate Dawna’s life will be held on June 20, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Grandle Funeral Home, with refreshments to follow.  Friends and family are invited to gather, share their memories, and honor Dawna’s extraordinary life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to your favorite animal rescue organization to continue Dawna’s mission of rescuing and caring for animals in need, or to donate to the family to help pay for funeral costs.

Dawna’s spirit of generosity, love, and dedication will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Her impact on her community and the lives she touched will never be forgotten.
