Dukes’ Lackey named 2025 forward to watch by United Soccer Coaches

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (JMU Athletics) – Forward Ginny Lackey has been named to the United Soccer Coaches 2025 Division I Forwards to Watch list, the organization announced.

Lackey, a sophomore from Bolton, Manchester, England, scored 12 goals and added 10 assists for the Dukes last season. She was named the Sun Belt Player and Freshman of the Year and finished the season as a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy Award.

Earlier this month, Lackey was named the 2025 Preseason Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year. She also received a spot on the Preseason All-Sun Belt Team, joining three other JMU players.

James Madison was predicted to finish first in the Sun Belt by other coaches in the conference.

The Dukes open the 2025 regular season on the road, where they will face NC State on Thursday, August 14th. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 P.M.
