James Madison announces 2026 lacrosse schedule

HARRISONBURG, Va. (JMU Athletics) – James Madison lacrosse has revealed its 17-game schedule for the 2026 season, Head Coach Shelley Klaes announced on Monday.

The Dukes will play six games at Sentara Park, nine games on the road, and one at a neutral site.

JMU’s opponents consists of four programs that finished inside the ILWomen’s top 25, including two that ended the season in the top 10. Additionally, the Dukes find themselves in four matchups with teams that reached the 2025 NCAA Lacrosse Championship.

The Dukes open the campaign at home with a pair of ACC matchups against the defending national champions North Carolina (Feb. 7) and Virginia Tech (Feb. 11). James Madison will then make its way to the USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md. for a neutral site contest with UConn (Feb. 14). JMU will finish its February slate on the road, where they will face off at Cornell (Feb. 22) for the first time in program history.

JMU will spend most of March on the road, opening the month in Maryland with two big ticket matchups at Maryland (March 3) and Johns Hopkins (March 7). The Dukes have a midweek matchup at Liberty lined up (March 11) in Lynchburg to close out the five-game road trip.

James Madison will kick off its American Conference schedule with a home contest against ECU (March 14) before trekking down to Tampa to face USF (March 21) in a rematch of the 2025 American Championship. The Dukes will then return to the Commonwealth for a game against UVA in Charlottesville (March 25) before resuming AAC play against Temple at Sentara Park (March 28). JMU will quickly turnaround and travel to Pennsylvania to face Pitt (March 31) and close out the month.

Three of the Dukes five regular season matchups in the month of April are against conference opponents, opening the month on the road to play Charlotte (April 4). The Dukes will then faceoff with Georgetown (April 8) in Harrisonburg for the first time since the 2006 season. James Madison will then take a trip across the state to matchup with Richmond on April 14.

JMU is set to close out their home schedule against Vanderbilt (April 18) for the sixth all-time meeting between the two squads before closing out the regular season a week later at Old Dominion (April 25).

The 2026 American Women’s Lacrosse Championship will be held April 30 through May 2 at Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tenn.
