HARRISONBURG, Va. (JMU Athletics) – ETSU used a seven-run sixth inning and a five-run eighth to prevent a series sweep, as James Madison baseball fell 13-0 in eight innings on Sunday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Park.

The Dukes dropped to 7-7, while the Buccaneers snapped a three-game losing streak to improve to 10-5.

Six Dukes recorded hits at the plate, with sophomore Reece Moody going 1-for-2 with a double to extend his hit streak to 10 games. Three of the six hits for JMU went for extra bases in the form of doubles.

How It Happened
Fifth Inning
ETSU struck first with a leadoff homer from Luke Matlock.

Sixth Inning
The Dukes retired two of the first three batters in the sixth, but the Bucs loaded the bases and proceeded to bat around and bring home seven runs to lead 8-0.

Eighth Inning
Two walks with the bases loaded added a pair of runs for ETSU, before a pair of singles brought home three runs to bring the score to 13-0.

Game Notes
• Reece Moody’s 10-game hit streak is the longest hit streak for a Duke since Mike Mancini strung together 17 straight games with a hit in 2024.
• JMU played on Sunday for just the second time this season, previously knocking off Michigan State, 4-2, on March 1.

Up Next
JMU hits the road to play Radford on Tuesday, March 10 with a 4 p.m. first pitch, before returning home to begin Sun Belt Conference action on March 13-15 against Georgia Southern.
