HARRISONBURG, Va. (JMU Athletics) – James Madison running back added to his postseason accolades on Monday, as he was named a 2025 Associated Press Second Team All-American all-purpose player.
This is the fourth FBS All-America nod for Knight, who was previously honored by USA Today, Sports Illustrated and On3. Knight also collected HERO Sports Group of Five First Team All-America honors.
The redshirt junior was a First Team All-Sun Belt Conference running back and all-purpose selection after leading the league in rushing yards, as he’s run for 1,263 yards and nine touchdowns. He was a Paul Hornung Award finalist, ranking third nationally in all-purpose yards per game (147.0) after also contributing 37 receptions for 379 receiving yards and 269 return yards, serving as JMU’s primary punt returner.
Knight, the Touchdown Club of Richmond Running Back of the Year, has rushed for more than 100 yards on four occasions in 2025, averaging 6.65 yards per carry, good for seventh in the FBS. His season was highlighted by his Sun Belt Football Championship MVP performance with 212 rushing yards and a touchdown and a title-game record 234 all-purpose yards.
JMU (12-1), seeded 12th for the upcoming College Football Playoff, heads to Eugene, Ore., to face fifth-seeded Oregon (11-1) on Saturday, Dec. 20. Kickoff from Autzen Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (4:30 p.m. PT) and will be broadcast on the JMU Radio Network.
