Shenandoah Valley Weather: Sunny and heating up

HARRISONBURG VA: (Rocktown Now) – Quiet and pleasant weather today will give way to an extended period of dangerous summer heat across the Shenandoah Valley, with temperatures climbing well into the 90s by midweek before scattered afternoon thunderstorms return later in the week.

According to the National Weather Service, high pressure will provide abundant sunshine today before strengthening over the Mid-Atlantic Wednesday and Thursday, allowing temperatures and humidity to climb. Heat index values are expected to approach or exceed 100 degrees during the hottest part of the day. A more unsettled pattern develops late in the week, bringing daily chances for afternoon and evening thunderstorms through the weekend.
